Firstly, make sure that you have the appropriate kernel support for audio. sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-2.6.24-19-generic

If it still fails you might have to try the same procedure again, in the development version. But don't install it on production servers!

I have the exact same network card as you and I can make my computer output sound with Ubuntu 10.04. You can try this but it's not a guarantee you'll get it working sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-2.6.32-25-generic

Alternatively, you can use the older driver which works for me. sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-legacy-2.6.24-19-generic
